found this self adjusting vintage wrench

found this interesting little gadget at the flea market, it's an old self adjusting wrench, it's marked "made in germany"

anybody know when these were made? how old is it? were these made for autos? or possibly bicycles?

thanks, it looks different but uses a similiar self adjusting design

it's an engineering masterpiece! I like to play with it when Im on the PC and use it as a paper weight , conversation piece.
