I posted this pin that I found on another site I frequent that has lots of military members and after almost a week I have no answer.

Any ideas of what this pin signifies?

Is it not showing?

Linked through photobucket and showing on my end.
I believe he was jokeingly referring to the safety pin as your photo is showing up, lol.
As for the subject in question , dunno but I'm curious also. Don't believe it's supposed to represent naval aviation. Neat!

That's definitely not an American eagle. It resembles a Prussian/German or Polish eagle from the late-1800s/early-1900s... note the peculiar curled form of the tailfeathers, and also the spread-open talons. European heraldry eagles usually have a crown on the eagle's head, but on your item, the loop atop the eagle's head may have caused the crown to be omittted.

The button in the photo below has the Polish National eagle.

A fanciful US NAVY "Mother" lapel pin purchased overseas where they "thought" they were getting the American Eagle right. Cheaply made with the use of the diaper pin. Still, cool artifact. IMHO, Sub 8-)
