My girlfriend and I found this in the barnegat bay. Can anyone tell me anything about it. I found it close to shore on the inland side of the bay at dead low tied! It was by an outflow pipe where I'm assuming was uncovered by the out flowing water. Approx 10ft from shore.

Need more info.... barnegat bay where?
What is it's composition? Copper, Steel, cast iron, Bronze? Does a magnet stick to it? Heavy?
Looks like a church steeple cross.
Any markings?

Barnegat bay NJ about 10 miles from inlet. It's made of concrete. There seems to be half a Fleur de lis on the left side. And other markings can't identify. Might just be design features

I'd go with gravestone too, with Celtic influence in style. Many of them sat atop the main stone which would have the name of the deceased, etc. There appears to be the remnants of initials, which I'm guessing would be IHS (Jesus, savior of humankind). Is there perhaps a small family plot closer by that it could have washed away from, even on a small island in the bay?

Looks more like decorative stone work from an old church. I highly doubt the tombstone theory. Was there anything around it that could have been building rubble?

Nothing else around it. The area was recently cleaned up from hurricane Sandy

Yard art perhaps, topper to a tomb, part of an old church decoration, something like that.
