Probably an old plumbers lead bar for sealing pipes and stuff in the old days.
the 2 & 1/2 is the weight in pounds I think.

Yeh i am pretty sure it is. I had found one of those at a shipyard once,
I think pipe fitters use them.

Interesting, I have never had anything lead, and large, ring up over 70 on the ATPro. It must be some kind of alloy or it has silver in it. A metal test kit may give you your answer. Sub 8-)

Larger metal items will read higher than smaller ones always, its always nice to remove lead from the ground, kudos !

Old lead is highly desirable but needs to be pre 1940. The older the better. Read the links above.
