Got this Dymo printer for $5 at a thrift store

Thinking about using it for printing ebay shipping labels

Right now I have a nice Laserjet 4000 with an extra paper tray for labels . Works great but I'm thinking the Dymo will be cheaper to run.
It only costs about $5 for 150 address labels and no ink or toner cost.

Does anyone here use a Dymo for printing Ebay labels and do you like it?

Let us know how it works out.Looks like a money saver.

I will , just ordered some labels for it.

Will end up costing 4 cents per shipping label vs 12 cents with the laserjet or 15 cents with my inkjet (ink/toner factored in)

This has a usb port to connect to a pc?
Yes, it has usb

It's an older printer but DYMO has updated software for it
I have Windows 8 and it worked fine. I have it shared out on my desktop so that I can print from my laptops to it through the wireless

That's good to know. Thanks.

After getting sick of spending $50 every time I seeded a new printer cartridge (every few months) and new printers because the junk they sell these days is only good for a few thousand pages before it breaks, I looked into something else. I picked up a HP office laserjet printer. It takes a large toner cartridge that costs $185, but it prints 15,000 pages before it needs refilling. Shipping labels are only half a page, so that's an estimated 30,000 shipping labels! It is fast, quiet, and built for longevity unlike the homeowner model printers. You can pick up these printers for less than $100. The one I got only prints black, but there are ones that print in color. I just use the old printer if I need something printed in color (rarely), and the laserjet for everything else. 30,000 shipping labels might last me the rest of my life.

Dymo is great. I have had one for years. never a problem. I use mostly for shipping labels.
here is a place I use for labels labelcity.com

I have a Laserjet 4000 and love it. Got it for free , just needed an adjustment to work correctly.
Toner cost per page is $.0025 ( 1/4cent) because I use remanufatured toner carts.

I was looking at the Dymo because the cost for the labels were so cheap plus those half page labels produce a lot of waste.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out

You stumbled across a very cost effective solution there (direct thermal labels)! Let me add some input that has helped the eBay Top Rated Powerseller account I manage.

Sell the DYMO 330 for $20.00 Buy It Now on eBay.
eBay "ZEBRA ZP 450", find a good used one for under $100.
Create a UPS Account if you don't already have one, ship with them every so often, and they will deliver FREE labels just as fast as you can use them.
The labels you want are 4"x6", a very common size that works for pretty much any package/envelope. The UPS product code is "01774006" and can be ordered with a few clicks on the UPS website.
Also order supplies #171604 and #01875614. These are adhesive plastic pouches. One you can use for invoices on the outside of a box, the other you can use for international shipping labels that are printed on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
Did I mention you can print your packing slips/invoices on these labels as well? Saving your regular printer for only international labels.
The Zebra ZP 450 works with everything from eBay to UPS online labels.
DYMO is great, but having free labels is really nice.
I have used other thermal label printers also, but this seems to be the best one for me.

Just wanted to share this information with others who might be interested ;)
