Found this button today, need a little help

I found this button today at a yard sale, I wish I could say I dug it with my metal detector but I didn't. The button was found in northern Maryland and was never cleaned. He said he believe's its pre civil era.
I can't find much info on it so I thought I would show you guys and hopefully get some help.

Definitely looks pre Civil War. Looks to be made of pewter.
