The Morgan dollar is for size reference. (Early Xmas gift from wife with a card that said: "You cant find them if you dont know what they look like...smarta##.)
Found it in a baseball field. About 12" down. Pretty darn deep for my Ace 350. The baseball park was some sort of field in the 40's as far as I know. As you can see it has a bit of green patina on top of a goldish color, does that mean brass? Looking at it from top it has a countersunk hole that a couple of my friends thought might be for a screw. What I find interesting is that one end is flat like it should go against something while the other end is not. It also has four "feet" to keep it of the surface its on.
Any knowledge on it would be appreciated.
Oh, and I have not found anything else that deep or of that kind of apparent age in the park. No square nails etc.
Thanks and Merry Christmas and HH to all.

The round hole on the back leads me to believe this was at one time attached to something.

What is the diameter of the top hole? See if a candle fits in it. To the left of the bottom hole looks to be a place where there was an attachment. Is that correct or is that an optical illusion? If that is a place of attachment, it could have had a clip to hold it on a Victorian Christmas tree, which is the first thing that came to mind since it was so ornate and small. Interesting, Breezie

It does look like it would have had a tang of some sort on it but not sure...
