Found this a couple days ago, need a little help

I found this interesting little clip or buckle a few days ago about 10 inches down, it was registering on my infinium LS very clearly and it didn't come ring back as iron. I dig it up and was pretty excited. I just don't know the time period or what it might have been used for. The area I was in was near old O & W railroad tracks( no longer there) and also near by was a revolutionary war encampment. Any help would be appreciated Steve

Help the readers out with a little more info. Type of metal, size, etc? Looks to be a suspender clip based on what we have to go on.

Knowing the size would help. If it is larger it could be a suspender clip, if it is smaller it could be a garter clip. Tony

That clip is off a pair of ladies stockings! Hangs down off a garter belt!

I have removed a lot of those in my day, but that's for another forum.

It measures about 1 1/2 inches and seams to be made of copper. Sorry about the lack of info, hope this helps

Logic says women back then rarely owned stockings, and if it was later in history, they sure didn't wear them out in the fields... well, maybe in some modern videos they do, lol

It is a brass suspender clip like was said. If it was a garter clip with 1-1/2" wide straps needed to hold up her stockings?....do you really want to picture how big she was..?
