The item on the left looks like a bell clanger. Welcome to the forum! :) Breezie

To me they appear to be late 19th century artifacts unless you found them in nice rich soil that prevents rust growth.. I think Breezie hit the nail on the head with the first one if it is not a bell clanger then looks to be a a tool of some sort, a tool device would have attached too where that hole is or it could have come off something like a chest.. The 2nd artifact looks like it could have been used for many things like a hand pulley of some sort or something similar too a door handle it looks like you could put your fingers thru and use it for some sort of handle, bucket holder,etc... Hard to 100% ID artifacts, almost looks like left over trash from other MDers if you havent found anything else and know the site is been hunted.. Good luck you never know what is floating around old plantation sites, some of my best CW relics have been found around old plantation and house sites and nothing really is hunted out your bound to run into something good. :occasion14:

Hey thanks for the input! I agree it's hard to really be sure what they were for exactly, but at least i got some more ideas about them! preciate it! I got both in an electrolysis pot now trying to get the rust off. Hopefully they'll clean up pretty good! Thanks again! RL

I used to collect bells, never saw a clanger like that. When you show photos you should include a ruler for scale, it helps ID a lot. You're lucky to get out and hunt, ground frozen pretty hard here!!
