Found these today, candleholders?

They look like candle holders. About 14 inches tall with marbles bases one is male one is female. They are chrome metal, solid and heavy. I liked the looks of them so for 4 bucks I couldn't go wrong.

I can't find any hallmarks. I thought the looked a little art deco-ish to me too.
