I got a new White's MXT metal detector from Tony C. on March 11th. This past Saturday I took it and headed to a place I wanted to detect. While walking from the car to the spot I wanted to detect, I came across a lot of broken glass. It looked like an old bottle dump that was covered over with dirt to form and enbankment. The side of the embankment was eroding and I could see many bottles sticking out of the side of the hill but I couldn't dig them out. The ground was still frozen. Many of the ones that were broken looked like they were broken recently. That area is normally under water. The ones that had been there a while were covered with a rusty colored dirt coating. I believe kids probably found them and broke them. I wish I would have found it earlier. I started looking around and started finding some that weren't broken. So I took my detector back to the car and grabbed a bucket. I picked at pieces of glass with my trowel for about 3 hours and made a few trips back to the car with my bucket. I left there with about 70 bottles. They appear to be from the 1960's or 1970's and not worth much, but I'll take them. I'll go back in a few days to see if I can get any more. I never did get to turn the MXT on that day. Here are some pictures of some of the better ones.
