They look real to me..they're confederate notes. Made pretty crudely on thin paper...a lot of counterfitting during this time. If you google the denomination and the signatures i guarantee you will find other examples.

What does the back of the bills look like?

Nothing on the back, except for the ink bleed from the front handwriting.

Here's a pic of the backs. The blue ink stain appears to be from some other document that bled onto the bill.

To me those don't look rare enough for someone to fake, but I know absouletely nothing about confederate notes.

Just my 2 cents, and im keeping it. Cu

Don't take what I say as gospel but I have never seen a real one without print on the back. Thin.....the only thin ones I have seen are modern fakes. I've got a few Confederate notes but haven't plunged into studying them.

I have many real ones and just by looking at yours I am fairly confident (not certain) that they are genuine. I don't have any pictures of the back of mine, but I know that some are blank.

Also when I said they were counterfieted I ment back in the mid 1800s, not today.

And frequently the counterfeits were spotted for the superior printing quality over the real thing.

I typed in "Confederate bills with blank back" on Google and learned that they exist and a little more. So thanks for posting. I "Learnt" something. You might want to look as well.

Check yours against the ones posted on this site. There is a link near the top of the page to the bills with fake serial numbers. But, from looking at yours and comparing them to the real ones I am leaning towards yours being real. I hope the numbers check out. : Confederate Currency

Thanks guys! I went to the site and checked them and they check out, so far nothing negative that I have seen...

Yours look good to me, none of the numbers match up on the known fakes. Due to the shortage of paper, ink and decent lithographers during the war, many state issued banknotes, as well as their Confederate counterparts, were pretty plainly designed and printed only on the front side. I had some N.C. notes that were even cruder than yours.

by my book they look real.. Congrats on your find

If they are real, what might you guys think the value of them could be?

Yours look pretty good to me, I learned quite a bit about them after I found one a while back. Value wise they don't seem to have much, mine is a $100 and I found one in similar condition priced at $80. Of course it will depend on the rarity of yours what the value might be. I framed mine and have it on the wall, it's worth more than that as a piece of history that I saved from the trash to me.
