Found these "BU" 40 percenters today



Yes, I believe they would be "BUTT UGLY"! (can I say that)

I think that one of them might be a 1948 or a 1953 Franklin. Maybe I can get LJ to trade.

You know, come to think of it, I think the one in the lower left corner of the picture is only an "AU". You can figure out the meaning of that one for yourselves.

I found some that were so chewed up you could hardly tell what they were.

Soak them in warm (dish) soapy water. See if that doesn't improve things.

I found about a dozen in a box one time that was probably twice as bad as those. I ran them thru my tumbler for two hours, and they looked really good after that. Just used water and pebbles.

I found some like that once. Lady at the bank told me they had come from a depositor down the street who had his house burn down. They were awful to deal with, wouldnt come clean for anything.
