Metal Detecting
I checked out a cellar hole and it wasn’t easy going at all. Loads of semi modern trash and big metal around but seemed untouched. Maybe the difficulty was a deterrent of someone else was there before. My first good target was half a Victorian sash buckle. I tried to find the other half but no luck. I moved on a little farther and found the Easter bunny. Well part of the Easter bunny anyway. 😂
On my way out and heading home I stopped and tried one more time to get the other half of the sash buckle. I kept having a feeling it was there somewhere. About 15 feet away I got it. I was pretty phyched finding it because it’s seems pretty rare to find both halves of a two piece buckle. I’ve only ever done it around three times in well over ten years of metal detecting. I know there’s got to be more stuff there yet to find if I put in the work. The digging was pretty soft dirt with random pottery pieces in it most times. Thanks for looking! 😁👍

Can't be the Easter bunny. I understand the Easter bunny ALWAYS looses it ears first not it's legs LOL still nice finds

It's so much fun being the first person to detect a site...its not so much fun being the last person to detect a site sometimes...picking up the crumbs and toenails is sometimes all that is left.
You'll have to hop to it to get the next untouched cellarhole!

Cool bunny buddy! Keep at it!

Is that rabbit 🐇 lead? Found one in an ash dump. Congrats on finding the second half of that buckle. Does not happen often. I have one I'm trying to find other half off. Unfortunately I haven't been back there for a year. Other places have been taking priority.

Yes it’s lead 👍

Great find in the sash buckle and both parts too! I have not seen one like it before and wonder who would wear such a sash and what kind of clothing it would be on? i look at old paintings and try to familiarize myself with the kinds of things people wore in the 17 and 18 hundreds but cannot recall such a sash and am interested.

Think it was for a lady’s dress and there was single one piece type buckles and also the two piece that hooked together to make a unique image together. Also think popular from the late 1800’s to the very early 1900’s. I’m sure some people may have a bettee idea and facts then me though. Haha

There's a type of sash buckle called a butterfly 🦋 buckle. It had two wings so to speak. I believe yours is one of those types. The gilt one with red gem I have to go back to look for other half.
