This is technically not a "Today Find" cause it was found this summer. I've been thinking about posting this before but didn't really think it was that good of an idea, but now I've decided to post this. So there's a farm that I detect on maybe three to four times a year. The houses are from the late 1600's but the field is much older! Around 2000 years old. So, a year before I started metal detecting, they where some archaeologist that dug up the ground and found some really old foundations. So what I did was to go around and detect those foundations (Shh, don't tell anyone) and I did find some leftovers from the archaeologists (That they didn't find):
Late Medieval Horseshoe Nail:
Early Medieval Vessel:
Part of a iron knife (200-700 A.D):
I know that these are not some really great stuff but here in Sweden it's very rare to find old relics like this. And the fact that I only were detecting this place for about 6 hours total and the archaeologists were digging here for days and days brings me to mind that a detectorist could find more than a archaeologist. So let us detectorist's go dig the ancient grounds!
