art,

Is the etching recessed? if so it could be a wax seal of some sort rather than a standard brooch.

Regards + HH

Very cool, looks old to me, but IDK I don't want to be wrong and call it the wrong thing
I love the Dodge Brothers hub cap

That is a very good possibility

Show us the other side of that , it would be a very nice wax seal if it is!

Either way it is a fine looking brooch

I looked closer at the backside and it appears there may have been something attached once, it's still a contender for a nice wax seal knowing the carving is recessed

Looks good, and old too! Maybe lost during the fighting!

Dodge brothers hubcap? Nice. Can you provide a pic of the backside of the brooch, that may help us with the ID

19th C. Not quite the right colour for carnelian, so glass probably.

That brooch is really sweet. Congrats.

Gorgeous brooch, congratulations. Sub 8-)

Gorgeous brooch, congratulations. I compare the woman's hairstyle to those of my own relatives in circa 1850-1880's tintype photos, they are quite similar. Sub 8-)

Its a bald bloke...lol

very nice find trapper.

For as old as that thing looks it sure cleaned up really nice.
