Found a retirement Southern bell gold ring today.

Hunted an area that is very trashy and heavy iron. My buddy Arthur was testing out his 8” coil on the minelab Etrac. We found a few clad coins and a ton of square nails, plows, modern bullets and trash.

My dear friend Arthur’s father retired in 1983 age 55. Lost his retirement ring 30 years ago. His father worked for Southern Bell. They found the diamond placement 5 years ago.

Each diamond represents 5 years of service, 7 diamonds total, 35 years of service.

I tell my buddy Arthur, let’s move to the south where we found the civil War Connecticut state seal button, so the Gardener can cut the grass.

Arthur says wait! points and says my dad’s ring was lost right in this area!

I set my AT Pro discrimination at 37 sensitivity one notch down from Max and do a quick ground balance.

I walk 10 steps, make two swings get a screaming 72 with the six inch coil at 2” down, I dig the target and Bam!!! there’s the ring!

My heart jumped out of my chest! Wow! There’s your daddies ring. What an exciting and emotional hunt we had today!

Congrats on a very cool ring return. Honorable mention in my book.

Hi Gary,

The entire ring was lost 30 years ago.

The family found the center of the ring five years ago. We found the ring yesterday.

What an awesome day we had.

very cool story and an awesome recovery. What was once lost was found and returned to the family, the bonus is the family happens to be your friends as well. A memory for all involved, a highlight for you. :occasion14:

Is that your buddy or your buddies dad in the photo? If it's his dad, he looks great at 91 years old!

Awesome recovery/return, congrats! :occasion14:

That's my buddy Arthur in the picture. His father has passed away.

Thank you all for your kind responses. It felt so good to give my friend Arthur a hug and hand him that ring. We're all amazed I found the ring after 30 years in the ground! :occasion14:
