Today was a wonderful 72 degree day so I had to hit a new park. I came across a nice high tone +88 on my dfx. I was thinking silver quarter. I cut a plug and swung it over and right away saw a little silver coin like object. upon dislodging it up I noticed it was part of a chain which was intact! I could have easily damaged it with the spade.
The chain is marked Italy 925, so is the charm and the clasp. after getting home I cleaned it up with soap and water. It weighs 66.3 grams (nice!). I have a question though. when I scan the charm only with my MD it reads +88 and the chain reads +33... I would have thought it would be higher being silver an all. Im 100% sure its sterling. it feels, sounds, and looks like silver. maybe it is not. but being 3" under ground for who know how long would have turned it black/green if it was plated right?
I have never found a chain before. If that is a normal number for silver chains I guess i need to dig more mid range tones.
