It might be zinc?? Silver shouldn't corrode like that. Where was it found, water or in the dirt...

Hey you posted on the Indian Artifact Forum. You need to post it on one of the metal detecting forums. Go back and check out the list. Nice find if it is silver. Looks like lead from the picture. And the L stamped on it could stand for lead?

National Zinc alloy #8, 99% zinc with aluminum and copper alloy Probably 1/4 of a bar broken at the score???

Not sure that's what I was thinking. Sorry for wrong area.. Found it wrapped In old cloth outside remnants of old house.. Real hard heavy scrapped side and real shiny underneath. Has a bronze tint on bottom

Ya, it sure could be, depending on what it is...
I'd use water displacement to find volume, weight it and find the specific gravity.
