I remember making rings out of half dollars in middle school. We would just constantly hit the edge of the coin with a hammer over an anvil, keep turning and hitting it until it became the size of your finger, then drilled out the center and cleaned up the edges, polish it up, and your done.
I made one out of a silver half for my wife. I used a spoon and hit it as I turned it between my fingers. Took a long time, but it has a nice curve to the top. She still wears it everyday. Couldn't afford much back then and can't afford much more today(Thanks Obama). Hit that ring about 20,000 times and only hit my thumb about 10,000 times!
You did a magnificent job ! That is a beautiful ring , I made one from a 1964 Kennedy half - it took me 4 hours I think - most of that was
just hammering with a lightweight hammer and a small jewelers anvil (8 lbs or so )
That is a beautiful ring! I was hunting with a friend earlier this year when he found a coin ring made from a 1919 french coin. His wife took it and loves it!
