I found this pretty deep in the backyard this morning 5-6". I think I found a picture of the full version of the cap gun being sold on a popular auction site but there are no listing in the auction...of course. So close to an answer but yet so far away! The auction does list it as a double action cap gun so that might date it more modern? I assume that the same applies to cap guns as firearms, single action first, double action later.
I cleaned up the photo with contrast and sharpening to help you see what I can see. I don't know how the older cap gun manufacture worked, I assume there were some models that were made by the big companies (Hubley, etc.) that just weren't branded. Maybe this is one of them?
Any ideas on what it is would be great! Just trying to piece together some history on my yard and get an idea on what happened before my time.
Thanks!
