these items were found on topsail island NC. Round item seems to be iron and round 6.5 " in diameter. The other is a piece of metal with the following letters and numbers - o AV W 40. It also appears to be iron. Items were found on the shoreline 8" deep
The last two characters visible are "40". See the following:
The leading character, part of which has been broken off, is probably C. The next two are definitely O and P.
The rest is difficult to tell. The picture CW0909 enhanced makes it look like the first three characters following the P are A Y W. I did not see that string in the pictures I worked with though. The last character before "40" might be a stylized G.
"COPAYW?G40" doesn't really make much sense though.
Perhaps if OP takes a picture in better lighting and focuses the camera.
OR... C=O
I have already been through the main lists of WA cities and town... till eyes were blurred...
Also ghost towns... did not see a match but could have missed something.
It's now clear that the leading characters, C and O, are in a larger, different font than the PAV W(A) that follows. My guess is that it was the last part of a manufacturer's name (i.e., ____ CO. PAV. WA.).
