Digging for buried treasures on the family farm and unearthed this hunk of iron. It was buried under a foot of dirt. I have no idea what it is! Can anyone enlighten me. I can only assume it came off some type of farm machinery. Just a guess though.

Can you post the dimensions of it and possibly a more clear picture? My first thought was a parrot shell, but the ridges running vertical aren't consistent with any shell I have seen.

Drill bit for an old well digger?

Jack Hammer bit from a backhoe?

Hard to say... Need better pics and some more info on the piece.

That is DEFINITELY a corprolite . . .
petrified dinosaur droppings . . .

Though I'm not so sure about the dinosaur part,
OR the petrified part, for that matter!

I need something for size to even begin to guess.

That looks to me like a tooth off of a ripper. The old horse-drawn disks had those in the back to help break up the clots before the next pass.

At first glance, sure looks like a water line reamer
need better pics to confirm
is it threaded on the end? Male / female thread?
you would slowly turn/spin the auger under water pressure to ream out the crust in the old iron lines
they do all the time with old water lines
I used to sell make them and sell them
