Found on Pensacola beach fl. what is it?

Hi all, I was at the beach and found this piece of wood appears to be oak, it has these copper or brass nails and a brass looking spike in one end. It also has a round plug of brass. I would love to hear some of you're opinions.

Those nails look pretty old to me,the shape of them.
