Sorry for being stupid, but what eaxactly is a Reale. I am thinking of a coin you find on old shipwrecks etc. Am I close? Reale of Eight Etc.?

Spanish Reales were coins found on ship wrecks. Pieces of 8 are from them.

http://www.treasurenow.com/html/SpanishCobs3.html

(link isn't your coin just a ramdom example)

AKA Spanish Cob. cica 1650s - 1750s?

Most on here would give their right arm to find one. Funny thing is you didn't even realise :D

Nice find & welcome to Tnet from the UK.

If you post it the Cobs section, someone will id it better than me.

Thanks Crusader, I am more of a Civil War Relic Hunter which is why I am dumb about the coin, but happy to find it. Would love more!

More would be great, it may just sink in that its a coin of a lifetime :o

I've never had one over here but they seem to be rarer here than in the US.
