I found this in the high tide area in OC Maryland today. I was so excited that it could be a coin but when I was trying to clean it up I dropped it on a tile floor and some of the coating came off. It is magnetic. It sure got me excited at first. It’s feels heavy like a coin. Any thoughts? 59D80361-B8C1-4AE7-8572-9443A034613C.webp59D80361-B8C1-4AE7-8572-9443A034613C.webpAFF67CEF-AF66-4909-8489-D2318453053E.webp8544C2E0-5931-42C3-BA49-898756EB8056.webp

Back in the 1950's Finland made a nickel plated iron coin called a Markka.

Thanks Mud Hut! I didn’t know that. I’ll check it out online and try to clean up my object to get a better look.

Looks pretty big for a knockout. Maybe a foreign coin or junk pendant?

I also think an electrical box knock out. Main breaker boxes have some pretty large knockouts for heavier cables.

I have found similar disks at the beach. I believe it could be related to a tarp, possibly to weigh it down. Often they have pieces of fabric attached

Knock outs normally have a little notch where they were still attached to the electrical box it would be a small elliptical shape on the edge. If it has that I would say knock out also and in your pictures it looks like it might have what I am talking about but it could be the rust giving that effect also. The area I see this is about the 4 o'clock position in the first two pictures.

Thanks Steve, Claire, John and CudaMark. The tarp weight is possible. I don’t see an elliptical notch. I was able to clean it up and have new pictures. The few dark spots on one side of the coin are a bit of the corrosion I was unable to get off and not holes. 72BB052F-ACE4-4857-BAF1-2C8330736270.webp

Get a measurement on it with calipers I don't think it will be identifiable, but to me it looks to have a greenish tint to it so maybe it was some type of large coin that had copper that was mixed with another metal that made it magnetic????????

Thanks. It’s 1.5 diameter and 1/16 thick. I have noticed a slight greenish tint in certain light. I may never know but it was fun to find!
