Found this at a 1700s property any ideas what it might have been

resembles a drawer pull but those groves on the rectangle part has me scratching me head

If it is a drawer pull maybe the groove is where the lock pin comes up from the bottom to hold it closed. Just a guess. Interesting.

Just a guess, it could be from a sliding cabinet lock
