found old security thing at beach

hello, I decided to go to a beach that has produced finds from the mid to late 1800's. a storm north had created a cut at the tide line. I was finding allot of old copper trash and this little badge thing. If anyone has any idea what this is, i would be grateful to know. thanks for looking

Seems like I remember wearing "Security" brand suspenders once upon a time....
