found object in civil war site that is now a park - what is it?

How big is it? is it a broken harmonica reed?

it is about 2.5 inches x 1.5 inches maybe? I have compared it against pictures of harmonica reeds, but it doesnt seem the same. the bottoms of the "teeth" are cut out and alternate (one is straight the next one has a "foot") not sure if i am using technical terms here.

This is just a guess mind you, but it makes me think of a piece of lice comb that some of the boys carried back during the northern invasion.
