Here’s a front and back picture of this piece I found near an old well. It’s about the same diameter as a quarter, and as thick as 2 quarters stacked together. Looks super old, but hav no clue what it could be. Any ideas?? Thanks for Any You have:)
Happy Hunting!!!

Those things have been up for debate for a long time. Some swear that they are part of a water purifying device, while others swear they are out of an orchard sprayer. They were discussed at length in American Digger a long time ago.

Take a look at this water purifier, and you can see a disc very similar to the item in question: http://antiquescientifica.com/archive57.htm

You can see the holes are at angles. It is as though something squirted through them and it spun. Who knows.

what is the material?? if lead-- maybe a hem weight??

Don’t know what the material is. It’s got a reddish shell covering it all . Maybe brass? Not copper or lead. And if it was steel, it’d be cashed by now. It was 8” in a damp area where the hand dug well is.
