A antique gas lamp key? :dontknow: Breezie

35 years in the auto salvage business the first thing that came to mind was a hood ornament from a fairly modern car. the small hole would be for a spring and that end would be the bottom. They were spring mounted so some kid couldn't come along & break it off. Here's a link to a pic of one for a Lincoln Continental that's similar but not exact. Just to show what I'm talking about. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...=675&gbv=2&tbm=isch&ei=tEK9TeWHOsW4twfJt_HEBQ

A quick google search talks about a fox hunting club and horse shows.

Every rein guide I've ever seen was threaded at the base. This one has a peculiar arrangement for a rein guide. If you find another one near the first site, I am sticking with a sign bracket.

Thanks for sharing the rein guide photos. However, I still don't think that's what it is. We're all entitled to our opinions and mine is that it's a sign hanger. Having been in the sign business for more than a few years I have seen very similar examples. I guess that tempers my thought.

Pull handle for an overhead tank water closet (in bronze instead of porcelin). ;D

Curtain hanger for a rectangular curton rod?

Possibilities are endless.
