I haven't bee MDing very long and the other day out back in the woods I was walking back to the house on the old wagon trail and got a good hit about 5" down. Sure enough at 5" down, after a lot of searching through the rocks I found the piece of metal. I thought it was a large ball bearing so I had a friend of mine look at it who has been THing for over 50 years and knows a lot about this stuff and he ID'd it as a mini ball. I also found a lot of newer bullets, but this is the oldest thing I have found yet!!! I am still awaiting my first silver coin and my first wheatie, but this sure got the fire going again. To bad it is so cold today!!!!
