Found Military Button....Maybe Old ?

found this under an ant bed about 7-8 inches in my pasture i've been huntin for 2 + years...i have found countless items in this paticular spot..anyways,,can it be civil war era or is the 17th an ongoing regiment..the only places i could attach it to would be the 17th Maine and a group of horse soldiers that were assigned to the indian wars west of the ms.river but don't know if it was pre war or post war of the states....any ideas ?? thanks guys!!

That's ok with me.i'm not much on buttons and have not had to research any for reasons other than puttin a date near it in case someone's in the need-to-know.i have found coins dating back to 1856 on this same spot so i was not completely sure whether or not it was even a button.. Thanks Fellas!....My apologies to T-Net and this Great group of Americans and Foreign Members for not posting in a while....!
 

Yup, it's WW1, 17th Field Artillery, 2cd Division. It's actually a collar insignia, not a button. Cool find!

Yeap, sometimes called a 'Collar Disc' Or 'Collar Stud'
