I need help identifying this object I found last Sunday with my metal detector.

It was found in an old 1800's ghost town far off the beaten path. It was buried about 6" underground.

It is approx. 2" wide and 4 1/4" in length. It is VERY light and made of metal.

I included pics of the front and back. It looks like it may unhitch in the back like a hair clip or something but it doesn't.

If anyone knows has any idea what this object is, please share.

Thanks,

No clue...but it is about the most beautiful relic that has been posted on here in a long while..congrats.

Man, that is beautiful! Do some research and find out what you have. Is it brass? Looks to be. Hopefully it's all there. Could be BANNER material! Let us know! Great find!

A very beautiful ornate piece! Congratulations!

Top notch find...
and very rare.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!

You nailed it! (Art Nouveau style ladies sash buckle/ribbon slide) I really appreciate your response. I didn't even realize what a great find it was until now.

It looks great in my display cabinet. No markings that I could find so far. I'm going to check again.

Thanks everyone for all the nice and positive comments.

A special thanks to Deepsecrets for solving the mystery. The item in question is definitely a vintage Art Nouveau style ladies sash buckle/ribbon slide. I could not find any markings on it but I'm going to look at it again harder with a magnifying glass. This is a great site. I have one other mystery item I'm going to post later.

Thanks again everyone.
