I?ve resisted posting similar circumstances due to suspected coincidence, but I guess third time is a charm. So I?ve detected roughly ten years now and have a bit of experience, and I keep noticing that I?ve tend to have found surprising things out in plain site by simply stopping what i was doing and just sitting down and observing.

Went to a state park today that still preserves a couple old homesites. Of course I didn?t have my detector due to legal issues, so was just checking things out. I saw an old root cellar dug out next to an old cabin and could see where people had been flipping rocks, pulling out foundation, etc. in search of things. I looked around a bit and just decided to sit down and soak in the world. About a minute later, I noticed that patina green color tucked back in the wall of the house/cellar right there for the world to see. I thought ?No way?, and went to grab what I saw. I fully expected it to be junk metal, but what came out was a ring of some sort. I knew it hadn?t been recently placed as the entire loop was stuffed with dirt with small roots holding it in it?s place.

I took it home to clean off, and lo-and-behold, it was a 10k gold-filled ring. A wedding band I?m guessing. This thing was sitting in a pretty open spot in a public area that sees thousands of visitors a year. This isn?t the first time I?ve found objects just lying in the cracks of old foundation or log chinking, there for everyone that takes a moment to slow down and take things in to see. 67C2974C-FAA3-426E-BB98-4777850BA63A.jpeg

This isn?t the original state i found it in. I placed it back in the general area and took pic after realizing what I?d found. Notice the block of foundation just to the right that someone had removed previously.

That's a great story. It's amazing what you can see when you simply tke the time to look. I think there must be a lesson there somewhere...

Excellent find. My daughter had a similar experience last week at her own home. She was just walking in the backyard near the homes foundation, and looked down to see a Sterling silver ring in the dirt right up against the Cinder block. She and her husband have lived in the home for 3 years now. It is amazing what we can find, (when we aren't looking for it ) !

Congrats to you, that's an awesome find! Nice to just sit down and take it all in and then BINGO!
