I?ve resisted posting similar circumstances due to suspected coincidence, but I guess third time is a charm. So I?ve detected roughly ten years now and have a bit of experience, and I keep noticing that I?ve tend to have found surprising things out in plain site by simply stopping what i was doing and just sitting down and observing.
Went to a state park today that still preserves a couple old homesites. Of course I didn?t have my detector due to legal issues, so was just checking things out. I saw an old root cellar dug out next to an old cabin and could see where people had been flipping rocks, pulling out foundation, etc. in search of things. I looked around a bit and just decided to sit down and soak in the world. About a minute later, I noticed that patina green color tucked back in the wall of the house/cellar right there for the world to see. I thought ?No way?, and went to grab what I saw. I fully expected it to be junk metal, but what came out was a ring of some sort. I knew it hadn?t been recently placed as the entire loop was stuffed with dirt with small roots holding it in it?s place.
I took it home to clean off, and lo-and-behold, it was a 10k gold-filled ring. A wedding band I?m guessing. This thing was sitting in a pretty open spot in a public area that sees thousands of visitors a year. This isn?t the first time I?ve found objects just lying in the cracks of old foundation or log chinking, there for everyone that takes a moment to slow down and take things in to see.
This isn?t the original state i found it in. I placed it back in the general area and took pic after realizing what I?d found. Notice the block of foundation just to the right that someone had removed previously.
