I found this while detecting in my back yard!!? I have been told that the road behind my home is around 150 years old.? I have found a lot of old bottles, cans, etc. buried or just laying on top of the ground out there.? This thing though.......I'm clueless!!!? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I've added another pic with a measuring tape. I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. Sorry. ??? :-[

doesnt look like a bottle opener or a sundial, more like a moving part for something :)

With no size reference it's hard to tell, but if the rounded part is about 5" across I'd say it was a hoe blade, and the shank would have fit into a handle. You should include a ruler or known object so the size can be determined.

By looking at the strengthening ribs, three of them, it looks like a step, maybe for a stage coach or farm machinery.. the part you can't see would be the top where the foot would go. Maybe??????

looks like the end of a hoe.

Looks like a rusted piece of junk ;D

Cool find!

Lonewolfe

Concur with lonewolfe ---that is, at first sight. But then, is obviously a duck's leg & foot. Iron fowl lawn ornaments were typical in U.S. circa 1880s (like popular plastic deer today), especially near porches of Philadelphia-area Pennsylvania farm houses. I'd look for rest of bird near the find, as could be valuable to collectors these days. ::)
Wish i really knew what 'twas so i could help you out! ;D

Whatever it is, i'd have to say that it's made of iron.
