It's a button with what looks like a coat of arms and a ship. Any info would be helpful thnx. Found in Madisonville Louisiana at about 10 inches using a whites XLT.

Well, here's as much as I can decipher , FATTI NASCHIP with j201 following. Then third word I can only make out FEM?? So. FATTI NASCHIP J201 FEM??

Thnx TAZ, that's amazing the similarity between the 2, the back of the button looks the same as well. Do you think it may have something to do with the navy and Maryland , also why is it in Louisiana so deep down? Sounds like a hunt for the truth to me.

I cant find exact match of the front. If your button has the exact same back mark then it is from 1859-1863. Is it a one ,two or three piece button?
If you can post a good pic of the back maybe one of the button guys here could tell you more.
I would guess its a civilian button since its post war and the state seal is not correct. Maybe check the history of the area it was found in, maybe from civil war reenactment?

English Arms of Lord Baltimore
In about 1634, soon after Maryland was first settled, the colony’s proprietor, Cæcilius Calvert, 2nd Baron of Baltimore in the Peerage of Ireland, sent over a seal to be used to authenticate the acts of the provincial government. On one side were Baltimore’s family arms. The motto was an Italian one, Fatti maschii, parole femine, “Manly deeds, womanly words.”

this is why we need a picture of the back however bad it is, because it gives the most clues. (I was only guessing 1 piece but if the back is a steel mess then its 20th not 19th C)
