I have no clue, but I wanted to commend you on your first post! Nice clear pictures, you've added a coin for estimating size, and you gave a very nice backstory on the piece. Great job!

Were the drills for masonry?

Any holes drilled on the rock?

Thinking that they are wedges to split rock.

Thanks af1733 for the compliment on my first post, also I think this is rather an ornamental piece rather than a tool but I'm not sure. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks everyone for your input.

Well, it was deserved. A lot of newbies could take lessons from this post. :)

Here's some antique AWLS. Take a look at the "kite" looking one. However, yours does not look to have had a shaft.

Just a thought.

Welcome to Tnet. I think when he is referring to drills and awls he means Indian artifacts that are made out of stone. Not sure what yours could be. There is an Indian artifact thread on this site, you might try posting it there.

It may well be a wood drill. placed on a stick and used with a bow or rubbing motion with both hands.
Sort of like a fire starter. Most rock drills I have seen are quartz. So that may have been used for wood. Just a guess.
