Found in river. Button?

If it is a bone button, I would get it out of that destructive 2x2 holder. It is liable to break in pieces if you store fragile buttons in those.
 

Ok. Will do. Thanks for the feedback. Been in that holder for a couple of years. Been pretty careful with it.

Appears to be bone. Those 4 lines converge in the middle. Just wonder what it was used for.
 

It is a standard clothing button. They have been made since almost forever and my grandparent's button box still had/has some in it. They will break easily. If found in Maryland, it's probably 19th century.
 

Tough to tell the type of button from your picture, but it could possibly be an Oyster shell button.
