Here in the UK its been too hot for detecting, at least for me it has , so l was going through some bits and pieces that l keep from throwing away until l have checked them out. Here. is one such find that l am not too sure about .now that l have cleaned it l think it could be Celtic. its 28mm at the longest possibly some sort of locking pin ?
Hutch.

I am also in the UK. I am not sure what this is - I do coins mostly - but it does look old. Worth taking along to a Metal Detector club meeting when they have a finds officer or archaeologist visiting.

I am not in any clubs at the moment. l will most likely get the FLOs opinion the next time l see her, l was hoping in the meantime that someone on here would like to see it and even know something about it. l have looked on the internet myself but cannot find any sort of comparison as yet. Interesting looking. It seems too fancy on the one end (head?) to be a simple farm implement such as a hitch pin. Maybe a handle for a deadbolt?

Yes it seems a bit fancy as you say . there was possibly some enamel in the 3 segments of the top. and it would have been striking in appearance.
thanks for your comments. Hutch.
