Dug up on an old trading post site on the coach road to Deadwood. Plenty more up there but got tired of digging up nails.

From the top and right: a couple of brass rods, an oil lamp wick holder, pocket watch face and backing, dungaree/harness rivets, pocket knife, .38 long brass, Robin Hood 10ga cap, 10ga solid brass shell, 1/2 a hair clip, two thimbles.

That looks like a great place to search. Love to dig thimbles- are yours silver?

I don't think so. I haven't cleaned anything off yet. just got done putting together a piece of porcelain bowl. It was surprisingly intact. This site is pretty overwhelming! It's close to 200 years old and gas never been hunted.

There's so much iron in every hole I dig (nails, screws, can lids) that its hard for me to tell what I've got just from the md signal. The thing just goes bananas. Wish more sites were like this!

Those are great finds, I hunt NW Kansas, SW Nebraska, and E Colorado...kind of amazing what is out there that doesn't get alot of hunting pressure.

Hit it again today. Found another .38 casing, a porcelain jug with a pour spout, some pieces of pottery and a brass thing. I'll post a pic later and see if anyone can ID it. I'm going to have to get a better rig. I'm just running a coin shooter right now. It's hard to discriminate with all the iron in the ground.

Yeah this is a great spot. It's all in a remote spot in my inlaws pasture and they don't care if I fill in holes or anything. I'm going to have to build a hopper. There's so much non metal stuff out here and the ground is so dry and brittle it just breaks apart for you.
