My parents were cleaning and found my old Coinmaster TR from the early 80's. Best coin I found in US was still with this machine. A 1873 Seated Liberty Quarter in rough shape in our backyard. Home was built in the 1930's and I found the quarter under the clothing line.

Still runs great after shipping. Found the 1972 manual for these online at White's website. As you can see, it has been used a few times. :)

I'd use this for tot lots, since it can see coins/jewelry 4 inches, and has a small coil, and is very simple. But there is no headphone jack, and it is LOUD. Only uses one 9 volt battery, though. Guess I have a back up now.

that brought back a lot of memories ... my first detector

my dad bought it for me - after some use he modified it by adding a headphone jack and on/off switch so you could always stay "tuned" exactly where you wanted ...

spent so many hours with that thing

thanks for posting the pic !

How cool Sheldius. I hope it has lots of life left in it for you.
I use an old TR in the woodchips so I think you will find,
once you get used to the weight of it, that you are far more efficiant
in pinpointing and recovery and that should get you more finds.
Good luck, keep us updated!

Two is better than one heh? Those must be real good if they are still working.

nice older detector. wish i saw one in the 70s or 80s. i would probably have started back then. the handle looks perfect for making a scoop for the beach. thanx for sharing. gf2 in tx

seriously, no matter what brand machine, it's great when you see an oldie still around that's got a great find with it.

Thanks everyone for the great comments.

I'm thinking that to use this I will at least need to have a headphone jack. The insides are just a board with a wire to the speaker and a wire to the tuner. Any chance someone can point me to how to wire up a jack? Don't think I'll lose any collecter value by drilling a hole. LOL.

Sheildius, I put a headphone jack in my BH EX last year. Hardest part was finding a descent headphone jack. The one RatShack carried was very small. Also, make sure you get a stereo jack. First one they sold me was just mono and took a larger hole then the stereo one they had.

I'll look and see if I still have the print I made up after I installed the stereo headphone jack. Put it on disc so I will look for it this weekend. I just played around with the wire until I finally got the speaker to work until the jack was plugged in.

Hey - i think he just unhooked the speaker and ran the wire to the jack if i remember correctly
will have to dig it out and look
