found in fisherman's net

This bottle/jug came up in a fisherman's net back in the late 60's off? Scarborough , Maine . The fisherman gave it to my grandmother , she since gave it to me . I was wondering how old it is ? Thanks ,

Re: found in fisherman's net

sorry i don't know the age of it, but i do know that lobstermen used to use small bottles like that in the 1800's and early 1900's as toggles ( tied about half way down the line, to keep the rope off the bottom ), is there any markings on it at all ?,
maybe someone at salmon falls stoneware could help you identify it. it's possibly an old B+M baked beans jug. they have been around for quite a while and the plant is only about 20 miles from you.

Pat.
