Found this along with a handful of buttons and a dropped 3 ringer. Marking is: PATD 1834 or maybe 1894. Of course one of the numbers is tough to read. Anyone ever see one of these?

Yes, maple tree tap. The patent date, 1884, can be seen on undug examples
