This item was found while visiting my daughter in Coushatta, Louisiana. It was found at a depth of approximately 10 inches. It would be greatly appreciated if anybody could assist me in identifying this object. I believe that it's too big to be a military button of any sort, but, other than that, don't have much to go on. Thank You.

That item IS too big to be a uniform button at 2 inches across.

However, it is a U.S.Army item depicting the U.S. Army Great Seal. That symbol has been used for a century and five years and may be the top of a rosette, or similar item.

Might be able to tell you more if you can post a picture of the back, and/or, a larger clearer picture of he front.

Thank you, Jim....I will, in fact, try to get another picture or two posted today to help in identification....thank you for your response.

Incidentally, on the reverse side of the emblem, there are what look to be two posts, not centered, which could possibly indicate that it might have been some sort of buckle, but once again, I'm not sure....I'll get the pics up as soon as possible...thanks again.
