Found this today on a very quick hunt in a area rumoured to have a Blacksmith shop in the 1800's. It's looks like a very weird hand made spoon. It measures exactly 45" long and made from 1/4 iron round stock. The bowl of the spoon appears to be hammered to shape. Any ideas on what this may have been ? Possibly a project started and not completed ? I'm curious to know what purpose this object might have been?

Slag skimmer?

That could be a possibility given the long handle to stay back from the heat. I'm going to have to hit this area hard now. It could even be from a bullet or round ball casting operation. Given this was found in the area of a rumoured blacksmith shop being on the site, it is possible that some small casting operation could have taken place here. I will mark it as solved.
