I found this horn in at an abandoned plantation house and I am trying to find out its age and origin. It is exactly 2feet long, and has a wooden mouthpiece. The reed assembly is brass and I'm not sure what metal the actual horn is made of but I think it's brass as well. It has been painted. The seam is not a welded or fused one. It was folded and crimped. There are no markings to be found. The horn works and is very loud.

I live in south Louisiana so I think moose would be out. Lol. However, plenty of fog at times and I'm on the shore of Lake Ponchatrain so could be a foghorn. Hunting with dogs used to also be very popular here so it could be that too! Thanks guys!

Gators can be called by imitating baby gator grunts.

Another good way to attract gators is to bring your little dog in your canoe.
