Looks a little bit like Lead, but other than a 'paper weight' guess, I have no clue on function.

Welcome to Tnet

That's cool! It sure looks old, let us know if you find out what it is.

That's an unusual find.wish I could help.

It looks like a lead melt. Pretty cool find for the relic case.

Looks like an old Tibetan healing medal or pendant

looks to me like someone pored molten lead it some type of mold other than that; I dont know what it could be or was used for [ sorry good luck finding out ] cool none the less .. Davers:icon_scratch:

That is odd... I've dug several pieces like this but with no face on it, i wonder if that could be a face of George Washington, Jefferson or someone in that nature, hard to make out.. But again hard too say, what state did you dig this in? or are you from overseas like England area? Very interesting find.. :occasion14:

Hi guys I'm brand new to this but was snorkeling in a local river and found this heavy metal artifact. I have no clue as to what it may be or what kind of metal it is so hopefully you all can help! The area is a very old known inhabited spot by Native Americans and even the Spanish occupied it at one time.

It appears to be a sun face brooch or pin. Are there attachment points on the back? Nice find!

Oh no Texas ;) NOW i see the face of George Bush.... :laughing9: too bad there was no engraving on the back of it, this type of artifact can keep you guessing til your 80. Hope you can find more info on it.

Also im sorry... I thought this was LEAD i read it wrong it is metal, are you SURE it's metal or lead?????!!!!!! Now it looks like George Bush!!!

Yes it is a type of metal as I found it with a metal detector and very heavy so I would say lead would be a safe bet. Is there a way to check? It looks very old so could be Bush Senior haha.

If this is lead which 80% looks like lead then its safe to bet this could be late 18th to 19th century artifact, if this is some sort of metal like you say then I have no clue it almost looks like George Bush.. Match this up with some other lead artifacts or go to an antique or civil war relic shop and see if you can this looked @.

Looks like lead. Lead is very soft and scratches easy, it also leaves a mark if you scratch it on paper, you know like a lead pencil.

Very interesting ill give the paper method a shot and let y'all know what I find. Thanks for all the help guys!

Upon further investigation I still have no clue as to what it is but I am concluding it is lead... It was found just downstream from a civil war crossing (I recently found out) but I have pulling many interesting lead objects out... I'm very curious to see what the ball thing is in the last picture also. It's very heavy solid steel or maybe lead... The top has an eye that is either gold or brass. All was found in the same spot as where I found the 'sun face'

A casket decoration from the early 1900 into 1800. Does it have a place where a spike would have been at one time and rusted off?

Wow! You found a lot of what's its. Good luck !
