Found Goldfinger's gun today

Was out at a local park today finishing up collecting the clad so that I might find some good coins on another day. The day started off with the first item found being a 1997 Chucky Cheese token, followed by several pennys. About an hour into the hunt, I get a screaming sound on the old detector, dig down about 4 inches, and pull out a butt of an old pistol. After I cleaned some of the dirt off of it, I saw the star staring back at me, so I knew that it was a kids cap gun. Decided to see if the rest of it was around there someplace, and soon got a reading at about 8 inches. Dug down, and saw the side of a golden gun staring back at me. Since we had received some rain recently, the ground was fairly easy to dig in.

I checked the old internet, and this particular gun (Texan Jr) was made by Hubley, and given a Gold Finish. I'll bet that the kid that had this gun really thought that he had it all. I'll bet that these were outstanding toys in their day.

Very cool, I alwyas smile when I find a old cap gun, I found 3 at a old homstead once, remember asking myself "jeez how many kids did these folks have.

We didn't like those in the 50's. The trigger had such a long stroke (it's a double-action capgun) that it was that far forward. You could hardly get your trigger finger in front of it.

That Nichols someone showed a pic of is an order of magnitude cooler--meaning would've been to a 50's kid. Nichols toy guns were well-made, pricey, and just cool.

But they're all neat as finds. All I've gotten is a barrel w/ ejector spring tube.

You're right, in that they are all neat to find. I've got a couple of others that I've found in the last couple of years, that I'll take a picture of and attach. I just think that they're neat to find.

I like your cap gun, but I also like the cowboy.  Both are very nice items.

Well, I finally got around to taking a picture of a couple of guns that I found last year. The smaller one was probably from a key chain, and was pretty well busted up when found. The other one is is pretty good shape.

They're always fun and a big surprise when you find them.
