The 5 Mark pieces are German commemorative issues and the pre-1980 low-grade silver. A strange thing to keep in a change purse.
 

I don,t reckon there was ever a German POW camp around there,from WWII? Just a wild guess,there,s one not far from where I live,and a Japanese Camp that was for relocated Japanese Americans.
 

To answer your question crash..yes there were pow camps in SC..I think somewhere around 20 of them
Thanks,I didn,t do the large view thing and saw the old dates listed on the red papers.Thought maybe a German POW might have lost them.Obviously a bad guess.Thanks for the reply.
 

I was hunting early today and did not find much to comment on, then as I was leaving the forest area here in SC , I got a sharp tone. I found a rotted leather bag and it contained the following coins. They are all German marks. Any one know the anything about these?
